1879 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. MS-66 (PCGS). Gold Shield Holder. This smartly impressed, fully defined example also sports smooth satin luster and vivid golden-orange patina. An underrated issue in the long-lived Liberty Head quarter eagle series, the 1879 is scarcer in Mint State than many later dates of the type with similar, if not lower mintages.
