Lot Description

Breen Die State II. Nice olive and medium brown patina on surfaces that present as overall smooth during in-hand viewing. There is an edge bruise at 7 o'clock relative to the obverse, bit it is minor and easily overlooked. Irregularity along the right obverse border and associated roughness on the reverse outside the letters AMER in AMERICA are as made and the result of a flawed planchet. All major design elements are bold, the recesses of Liberty's portrait also retaining plenty of sharper detail. Both Bland and Noyes assign this piece an EAC grade of VG10, the former ranking it tied for CC#11 in his census, the latter as CC#9.
