Lot Description

S-161. An enticing, sharply struck example of this early large cent. Exceptionally crisp definition to the details. An earlier die state, showing a number of thin die cracks, but in stages before they broke into full cuds. Pleasing brown coloration in the fields shows slightly lighter golden-tan on some of the highest points. Perhaps in the Breen Condition Census, this Choice AU has a great look and should delight any large cent collector. PCGS 16, NGC 5. The most recent example sold for just shy of $10,000 in February 2017. Only two S-161 have sold in auction in AU55 and this is not one of them. A very important opportunity not to be missed! Cert.
