Top quality SUPERB GEM! This 1874 Shield nickel has immaculate shimmering, reflective brilliant surfaces. Sharply struck, the shield lines are crisp, and detail is remarkable overall. It is difficult to imagine a Proof Shield nickel with a better strike or surfaces; this coin is certainly in the condition census. Only 700 Proofs were struck. PCGS 7, NGC 4, CAC 6. This coin sold in our October 2021 Regency Auction for $5,288 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is $6,000.
