Lot Description

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 55-m, W-5305. Rarity-4. U over S. VF-30 (PCGS). 144.6 grains. Glossy olive and steel with tan devices. Aligned to 6 o'clock on the obverse, ideally centered on the reverse. Mostly smooth and attractive, though with scattered pits on both sides. No significant post-striking defects are seen, and the aesthetic appeal is very nice. The U over S in PLURIBUS is plain to the naked eye. Rare above VF, the SHI Census includes a single AU, three EFs, and an EF- before descending into the VF range. Provenance: From the E Pluribus Unum Collection. PCGS# 763315.
