Losbeschreibung: A pretty piece, direct lighting calls forth vivid undertones of pale pink, antique gold and cobalt blue iridescence that enliven otherwise steel gray surfaces. The strike is ideally centered and generally crisp, most features sharp, and none less than bold, even despite the presence of a few light adjustment marks in and around the central reverse. A couple wispy scratches over and before Liberty's portrait and a dull mark in the field below the eagle's left wing do not distract during in hand viewing and are mentioned here solely for accuracy. As one of just two dates in the Flowing Hair half dime series (and more obtainable than the first year 1794), the 1795 is a perennial favorite among type collectors, especially in the finer circulated and Mint State grades. The LM-10 die pairing is one of the more frequently encountered among 1795-dated half dimes, which further confirms the desirability of this scarce Choice AU example for certified high grade type purposes.
