Lot Description
1871 Liberty Seated Quarter. Proof-66 (PCGS). A familiar look for a Proof Liberty Seated coin from the Millholland cabinet, the obverse is dressed in slightly mottled olive-russet iridescence. The more boldly patinated reverse exhibits a target-like distribution to steel-gray, sandy-mauve and pewter. Nicely mirrored in finish with pretty undertones of multicolored iridescence. Scarcer from both absolute and condition standpoints than a Proof quarter from the 1880s, and a find for the astute bidder, as such. Provenance: From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911. PCGS Population: 4; with a single Proof-66+ finer in this category.
