Lot Description
Among the FINEST extant of a small mintage, this SUPERB GEM Proof Barber half possesses an exceptional eye appeal! Watery mirrors are bold and have extreme clarity. Sharply struck on the obverse and reverse with strong CAMEO contrast on the obverse side. Delicately toned on both sides, the pastel hues really pop under a light. Only 575 Proofs were struck. PCGS 9, NGC 9, CAC 7. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $5,250 and the Col. Green-Newman sold in April 2014 for $7,050 and the Blue Moon coin originally sold in March 2017 for $5,405. All Barber Proofs have been hurt in the market, and at today's levels they seem very reasonable to us. This set can be completed in grades up to PR67 with some effort, and now is a great time to do so. This coin ranks very high in terms of eye appeal and technical quality, so we think it should bring somewhere in that range. Only two are finer in the non-CAM designation. A great coin for any high end Proof Barber half dollar collector! Cert. Number 34587379 PCGS # 6554
