Considerable prooflike reflectivity shines forth from the fields on both sides of this otherwise frosty BU example. Color is an enticing blend of pale pink and honey-gold, and strong central striking detail provides additional appeal. While this is the scarcer date logotype of the year's Philadelphia Mint double eagle issue, its identically dated San Francisco counterpart is typically represented by the Close 3 variety. The present offering is for a handsome Mint State example that will fit comfortably into a mintmarked type set or specialized double eagle cabinet.
