Lot Description

Warm honey-gold patina with tinges of pale rose evident as the surfaces rotate under a light. Both sides are boldly defined overall with glints of the original finish discernible in the protected areas around the design elements. One thin mark is noted in the left obverse field near Liberty's throat (for future identification purposes). A heavily circulated issue with a limited mintage of 6,600 pieces, the 1855-S is scarce to rare in all grades.
