Lot Description
1895 Indian Cent. Repunched Date. Proof-64 BN (NGC).
Toned with attractive, iridescent, yellow-green and crimson in the fields, while the devices are tan. A very lovely example within the assigned grade.
In our opinion there is a tremendous amount of basic numismatic value for any copper coins certified as "BN," as investors have been conditioned to buy "RD" only, and do not artificially run up the prices. However, such pieces with brown surfaces should be selected with care, as certification grades tell nothing about eye appeal. Today in 2011 a beautiful set of proof Indian Cents at this grade level can be obtained for a very reasonable cost.
