Lot Description

A light pewter gray example, obverse aligned to 6 o'clock with the peripheral letters at bottom partially or largely off the flan. We note better centering on the reverse, border only lightly into the tops of most letters, D in ENGLAND soft. Obverse periphery also soft at upper left and right, the pine tree is the boldest feature on this side. The reverse is overall bolder with the entire design appreciable. A number of faint scratches are noted for the obverse, fewer on the reverse, but none are worthy of individual attention. All in all a pleasing example for this challenging type that will nicely represent the Pine Tree threepence in a collection of circulated coins.
