Losbeschreibung
1825 Matron Head Cent. N-9. Rarity-2. MS-64 BN (PCGS). A beautiful mint state example and an uncommon date to find so choice. Lustrous light olive-brown with tan and steel-blue highlights in the protected areas. Displays a sharp strike and proof-like qualities thanks to the early die state. There are a few trivial marks in the left obverse field, otherwise virtually pristine. A contender for entry into the condition census for the die variety. An outstanding cent that comes with an impressive provenance. Provenance: From New York Coin & Stamp Co.'s sale of the Robert Coulton Davis Collection, January 1890, lot 2593; S.H. & H. Chapman's sale of the John G. Mills Collection, lot 1311; our (Stack's) sale of the Anderson-Dupont Collection, September 1954, lot 634; Emanuel Taylor; Abe Kosoff's October 1961 sale, lot 546; Kagin's October 1983 sale, lot 1105. PCGS# 36805. NGC ID: 225F. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
