Description du lot: 1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 12-G, W-4790. Rarity-4. No Coulter, Shaggy Mane. VF-30 (PCGS). 159.4 grains. An ideal No Coulter type coin, from one of the only die pairs of this type that occasionally comes nice. Glossy and even light brown with mostly smooth surfaces. Scattered vertical striations are only focused at central obverse on the lower horsehead but are otherwise widely distributed. They are less notable on the reverse, coming together at BUS of PLURIBUS. Aside from a ruddy spot on the shield, the color is ideal and even. The centering is good, though the obverse denticles are only complete on the left side, and the date is bold. The die rotation is medal turn, as typical. Though not Condition Census, this is quite a lovely example from these dies. We sold a PCGS VF-35 in our 2019 E Pluribus Unum offering for $8,400. Provenance: From the E Pluribus Unum Collection.
