Lot Description
This essentially untoned frosty-white example has the appearance and eye appeal of a higher numeric grade. The 1921 is one of the lower mintage issues of the type with only 1,230,000 coins struck. Demand for circulating coinage fell off during the early 1920s as the American economy stumbled from the boom of World War I back to a peacetime footing. Additionally, the mints were busy striking millions of Morgan silver dollars, the Philadelphia Mint also adding a few of the new Peace dollars before the end of the year. Mint State survivors are scarce and eagerly sought at all levels.<p>
