1838 Classic Head Half Eagle. HM-1. Rarity-3. AU-50 (PCGS). Deep reddish-olive and burnt-orange colors deliver strong eye appeal at the assigned grade level. A handsome AU example with sharp to full striking detail and appreciable mint luster. The 1838 rivals the 1837 as the scarcest Philadelphia Mint issue in the Classic Head half eagles series.
