- 1858-S Liberty Seated Dime. Fortin-102. Rarity-5. EF-40 (PCGS).
Predominantly silver gray surfaces reveal tinges of iridescent champagne-gold toning as the coin rotates under a light. Boldly defined overall and, although a bit glossy in texture, both sides are smooth in hand with no sizeable marks. This low mintage (60,000 pieces) issue is scarce in an absolute sense and rare in grades above VF, even more so than the already conditionally challenging 1856-S and 1859-S.
Provenance: From the E. Horatio Morgan Collection.
PCGS# 4618. NGC ID: 2393.
