Warm orange-honey color overall, both sides are further enhanced by blushes of medium pinkish-rose patina. Both sides are sharply struck with strong mint luster for the grade. The mintage for this popular issue is 91,209 pieces, up more than 60,000 coins from the preceding year's double eagle tally at the Carson City Mint. Survivors are equally popular with mintmarked type collectors, Liberty Head double eagle specialists, and Carson City Mint enthusiasts.
