Lot Description
1873 Liberty Seated Dime. No Arrows. Close 3. Fortin-103. Rarity-3. Repunched Date. MS-64 (PCGS). CAC. OGH--First Generation. A brilliant and highly lustrous example with a full endowment of mint frost. Sharply struck throughout with surfaces that appear smooth enough to support an even higher Mint State rating. Although survivors from a mintage of 1,507,400 circulation strikes are not particularly rare in an absolute sense, the 1873 No Arrows, Close 3 becomes increasingly scarce in grades above EF. A loupe reveals bold repunching to the date on the present example, which feature confirms the Fortin-103 attribution and is sure to result in strong bids from Liberty Seated dime variety enthusiasts. Provenance: From the E. Horatio Morgan Collection. PCGS Population: 6; 7 finer (MS-66 finest). PCGS# 4659. NGC ID: 23AA. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
