1852-C Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter-1. AU-50 (PCGS). Attractive light honey-gold patina greets the viewer from both sides of this pleasingly smooth, generally sharp Charlotte Mint five. Winter-1 is the more frequently encountered of the two die pairings known for the issue, although we stress that the 1852-C is as conditionally challenged as one would expect for any pre-Civil War Southern gold issue.
