THE SOMMELIER COLLECTION The Saint Gaudens series has very few varieties, mostly limited to minor doubled dies and repunched mintmarks. The 1909/8 is the only overdate in the series, and it is easily visible to the naked eye. This is a "GEM" AU with virtually full mint luster on both sides. Barely perceptible friction is seen on the high points and in the fields with a glass, but the surfaces are not at all choppy or hacked up. The eye appeal is great for the grade. PCGS 266, NGC 185, CAC 4. No CAC approved example has sold in auction, the most recent PCGS-graded coin sold for $2,400 in January 2021. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $2,540 and the CAC CPG is $2,410. Demand for this lovely 1909/8 will be strong. Good luck. Cert. Number 83795221 PCGS # 9151.00
