Lot Description

The 1950 is the first Proof quarter issue produced after World War II. With a relatively limited mintage of 51,386 pieces, it is the scarcest issue in the modern Washington series. As with its identically dated Franklin half dollar counterpart, the Mint experienced difficulty producing, packaging and distributing this issue, with the result that truly superb specimens are rarer than many collectors realize. The offered specimen is only faintly mirrored in finish, but the silver-tinged surfaces are virtually pristine and the eye appeal is exceptional.
