- 1846 Liberty Half Eagle. Large Date. Good-6 (PCGS). Generally even wear is noted, most devices fully, if not boldly outlined. The lower left obverse and reverse borders are more softly defined, however, with the word UNITED on the reverse quite faint due to wear. A fully original, orange-khaki survivor with no significant abrasions. A prominent reverse die crack (as struck) extends to the bottom of the eagle's right (facing) wing from the border after the period in the denomination FIVE D. Liberty half eagles are seldom offered in this grade, this particular 1846 Large Date example perhaps having served as a pocket piece for some period of time.
