Lot Description

A incredibly vivid example, both sides are dressed in intense target toning in colors of sunset-orange and blue-gray. The finish is satiny, the texture smooth apart from the rustic texture (as made) for which these early date circulation strike Buffalo nickels are known. Smartly impressed with crisp, razor sharp definition throughout. The 1913-S is the scarcest of the three circulation strike Type I Buffalo nickels, and in Superb Gem Mint State, as here, the issue is rare and seldom offered in today's market. The aforementioned toning provides additional appeal for the present example.
