Lot Description
1869 Pattern Cent. Judd-666, Pollock-741. Rarity-5. Proof-67 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. The obverse design is very similar to that used to strike regular issue Nickel Three-Cent pieces, in smaller format, of course, to fit onto a smaller-size planchet. On the reverse, a large Roman numeral I for the denomination is surrounded by a laurel wreath. Struck in nickel with a plain edge.
Finest certified for the type at PCGS, and the only CAM-designated specimen known to this service, the importance of this coin for advanced pattern specialists cannot be overstated. A brilliant, silver-white example with smooth surfaces and appreciable field-to-device contrast. Lovely!
