Lot Description

Popular first year proof Franklin issue from a low mintage of just 51,386 coins struck. A scarce date to find with deep cameo surfaces, especially at the exceptional level of preservation offered by this deeply reflective gem example. Profoundly deep mirrors contrast starkly against the fully struck devices creating the ideal black on white effect. The surfaces are 95% untoned with subtle purple tints to the right of the portrait on the obverse while a light golden tint graces the reverse. PCGS has graded only a single coin finer.
