1830 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-116. Rarity-2. Small 0. MS-63+ (PCGS). This lovely example is fully original with dominant antique silver iridescence blanketing both sides. Bolder, more vivid olive-russet patina is splashed around the peripheries -- very attractive. A sharp strike and bountiful satin luster further enhance the appeal of this premium Choice example. Although O-116 is a plentiful die marriage for the 1830 half dollar, the finest examples known to Stephen J. Herrman (Autumn 2018) grade MS-63. In PCGS MS-63+, this exceptional example is a strong contender for CC#1 for the 1830 O-116 dies, especially since we feel that this coin is undergraded in its current holder.
