- 1788 Vermont Copper. RR-16, Bressett 15-S, W-2120. Rarity-2. Bust Right. VF-35 (PCGS).
98.6 grains. Perfect glossy light brown with exceptional eye appeal. Ideally centered on both sides, with denticles visible around the entire circumference on both obverse and reverse. Nicely struck, even at the central depressions that sometimes swallow a good deal of the devices on a Ryder-16. A problem-free beauty, the equal of the Parmelee-Ryder-Boyd-Ford coin. There are plenty of Ryder-16s in the world, and a lot of them are quite nice. You couldn't ask for one much nicer than this.
PCGS# 563.
Provenance: From the John "Jack" Royse Collection. Purchased from Richard Picker; paper envelope included.
