- 1971 No S Jefferson Nickel. Proof-66 Cameo (NGC). Rare as a mint blunder without the usual mintmark of San Francisco, the S was inadvertently left off one proof die by the mint. Discovered in 1971 the Mint Bureau believes that 1,655 were struck although the total certified between both services amounts to less than 250 coins. Strong frost on the devices and pristine fields show the expected contrast.
