1844-O Liberty Head Eagle. Winter-5. Repunched Mintmark. AU-58 (NGC). A beautiful example with bright lemon-yellow patina that glows with richer honey-gold color near the borders. Intensely lustrous with remarkably smooth fields for the assigned grade. Despite its status as one of the more readily obtainable O-mint issues from the early Liberty eagle series, the 1844-O is scarce in AU, as here, and very rare in Mint State. A find for an advanced collector specializing in New Orleans Mint coinage or Liberty eagles, and one of just 118,700 struck. PCGS# 8591. NGC ID: 262T. Click here for certification details from NGC.
