1744-P Sou Marque. Dijon Mint. Vlack-168a. Rarity-7. AU-55 (PCGS). 36.0 grains. Variety of the issue with no stop after the anchor différent, and rare, as such. Most silvering remains to surfaces that exhibit light, iridescent toning to a base of pearl-gray. Boldly struck and smooth in the absence of all but a few barely noticeable circulation marks. There are several small pieces out of both the obverse and reverse dies, most prominently on the former side at the first digit 4 in the date. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
