Description du lot
1884 Pattern Cent. Judd-1721, Pollock-1929. Rarity-5. Proof-68 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. Nickel. Plain edge. Hole at center, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, date below. Reverse with shield and wreath below, and ONE CENT above. An outstanding Gem, and the single finest graded by either major grading service. Essentially pristine surfaces, fully brilliant with bold mirrors and sharp frosting on the limited design elements. A rather curious design, as the motifs are clearly not well though out, but rather simplistic in form The shield at the bottom of the reverse is particularly interesting, the base being centered on the hole at center without consideration of the fact that anyone looking at the finished product would see it as upside down! This in itself makes this variety very distinctive and illustrates the design process.
