Lot Description

Well struck and sharp with deep olive undertones to dominant honey-gold color. An early impression from the dies, as evidenced by vertical striae from the finishing process (which later wore away as more coins were struck). An attractive, collectible, and scarce Mint State example of this elusive issue, one of only 5,750 pieces coined early in the Civil War.
