1836 Classic Head Half Eagle. HM-5. Rarity-5-. AU-50 (PCGS). Lustrous for the grade with glints of satiny luster remaining, this handsome piece is also sharply defined with original surfaces dressed in honey-orange and reddish-russet. One of the scarcest die marriages of the issue, Daryl J. Haynor (2020) asserts that only 5% of extant 1836 half eagles were coined from the pairing now known as HM-5. PCGS# 8174. NGC ID: 25RY.
