Lot Description
1857 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. Proof-63 Cameo (PCGS). Boldly frosted motifs and deep mirror fields afford a strong cameo contrast. Chiefly brilliant at the centers with a broad array of deep violet and electric blue toward the obverse periphery, the reverse with a pale violet halo at the rim. From an unlisted proof mintage for the date; the PCGS website suggests just 50 to 70 proofs of the date can be found today. Choice for the grade with exceptional eye appeal and sound physical attributes.

Numismatic Reflections by Q. David Bowers
Any proof coin of 1857 is a rarity, and our present sale offers a virtual panorama of them from the Teich family holdings. This lovely silver dollar will command attention as will the others, a very unusual offering.
