Lot Description
1835 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-14. Rarity-2. Head of 1836. MS-65+ BN (PCGS). CAC. A pretty tan-brown Gem with full satiny cartwheel luster over virtually unabraded surfaces. There are no contact marks of any consequence, in fact, while the only minor flaw to report is a small carbon spot on the obverse that is well concealed between the digits 18 in the date. Exceptionally good eye appeal overall -- the choice color and excellent luster distinguishing this piece from other similarly graded specimens. Provenance: From Kagin's October 1983 sale, lot 1130; our Las Vegas Auction of March 2021, lot 1590. PCGS Population (all die marriages of the Head of 1836 variety): 1; 2 finer in this category (both MS-66 BN). PCGS# 37063. NGC ID: 225S. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
