Lot Description
1835 Matron Head Cent. N-14. Rarity-2. Head of 1836. MS-64 BN (NGC). The smooth olive gold surfaces are blanketed by vibrant sea-green luster across each side. Uniformly satiny and fully without distractions, a shallow mark above E in CENT is the only notable abrasion throughout. A thin lamination in the planchet skirts along the tops of stars 6 and 7 before fading into the denticles at the rim. Well struck for the issue, the dies show only the lightest fatigue matching Noyes Die State B/B, and the reverse exhibits about 20 degrees of clockwise rotation. Provenance: From the Paradise Collection. Earlier ex Ira and Larry Goldberg's sale of February 2017, lot 704. NGC Census (N-14 variety only): 3; 2 finer. PCGS# 37063. NGC ID: 225S.
