Lot Description
1866 Round 25 Cents. BG-804. Rarity-4. Liberty Head. MS-67 (PCGS). A magnificent jewel that represents a true prize for advanced Western Gold collectors. The bright lemon-yellow surfaces of this attractive Period Two fractional piece exhibit satiny and mildly reflective fields that support a frosty portrait of Liberty on the obverse. The "DOLIAR" variety - the second L in the denomination appears like an I that joins the foot of the A that follows. This particular specimen is among the finest examples known of BG-804, with only two graded higher by PCGS. It ranks above even the PCGS MS-66 Eliasberg specimen from our (Stack's) March 2010 sale and would serve as a highlight in a top-ranked Registry Set. PCGS Population: 2; 2 finer (both MS-67+). PCGS# 10665. NGC ID: 2BSS. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
