- Manley Die State 1.0. Lustrous and frosty, both sides retain traces of faded pinkish-red mint color on warmly toned, iridescent golden-brown surfaces. Most features are sharply to fully struck for this carefully preserved and elegant Gem Uncirculated example. The Mint employed a single pair of dies to strike approximately 140,000 half cents of this date, this mintage figure attributed to Bill Eckberg in his 2019 reference The Half Cent, 1793-1857: The Story of America's Greatest Little Coin. Survivors are plentiful enough to make this as a popular type issue in the Classic Head series, but we caution bidders that in the finest Mint State grades, as here, the 1829 is a notable condition rarity.
