Lot Description
1798 Draped Bust Cent. S-145. Rarity-3. Style I Hair. VF-30 (PCGS). Pleasant medium brown obverse toning gives way to equally appealing, if bolder olive-copper on the reverse. The strike is well centered on both sides, the devices retaining ample detail to the more protected areas. Curious pale pink undertones to the obverse suggest an ancient cleaning for that side of the coin, although as far as significant marks or other blemishes are concerned there is nothing for us to report. In their sale of this coin for the Reiver Collection, the Heritage catalogers noted an EAC grade of VF-20 and a ranking of seventh finest in the Noyes census. Provenance: From Heritage's sale of the Jules Reiver Collection, January 2006, lot 19359. Collector tag with attribution and provenance notes included. PCGS# 1431. NGC ID: 2244.
