Lot Description
1796 Draped Bust Quarter. B-2. Rarity-3. Fair-2 (PCGS). This 1796 quarter is sure to find many willing buyers among type collectors on a limited budget. While some areas are worn smooth, the remaining detail includes a sharp date, bold outlining to Liberty's portrait and some of the eagle, and enough of the lettering to read most of the word LIBERTY and some of the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Silver-gray surfaces exhibit only wispy handling marks, a rectangular strike through at 2 o'clock on the reverse is as struck. The United States Mint's first quarter dollar issue and the only one of the Draped Bust, Small Eagle design type, the 1796 enjoys strong numismatic demand in all grades. PCGS# 5310. NGC ID: 23RA.
