Lot Description
1936 Buffalo Nickel. Type II--Brilliant Proof-63 (PCGS). Crisp and fully struck devices are covered in a layer of thick golden toning that is a bit less dense on the reverse, the brilliant reflectivity of this Type II issue illuminating the fields on both sides. Given the 20 year hiatus since the last issue of Proofs, the former proofing techniques were forgotten; starting with a satin finish, the Mint then transitioned to the brilliant finish that is brilliant in both the fields and on the devices. The cameos would return with some of the later 1930s issues.
