- 18 in XF40 and 169 higher at PCGS. With just 15,000 business strikes the 1848 Liberty Seated dollar has the lowest mintage of any of the dates in the 1840s. Moreover, with only ten-percent of the original mintage expected to have survived, the present coin is a wonderful example in PCGS XF-40. The surfaces are a lovely silver-grey with hints of mint luster accompanying a great strike. A small rim bump near 9 o'clock on the obverse is all that holds this coin back from a higher grade (ls).
