1812 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-104a. Rarity-1. MS-62 (NGC). Rich steel gray patina with iridescent undertones of gold, apricot and powder blue evident as the surfaces dip into a light. Lustrous with a satiny texture, this is a sharply struck early date Capped Bust half dollar that is also uncommonly smooth for the assigned grade. Among the more readily obtainable die marriages of the 1812 issue in Mint State, O-104 and its intermediate die state O-104a are popular with both series specialists and advanced type collectors.
