Lot Description
151.5 grains. Very attractive glossy light brown with some dark olive encrustation offering contrast to the outlines of design elements and legends. Some flecks of planchet fissures are scattered across both sides, not unusual for the variety, but their consistent texture makes them blend into the positive visual appeal rather than seriously inhibiting it. The strike is firm and well centered, and both sides are bordered by nearly full complements of denticles. As usual, the dies are seriously clashed, here equivalent to SHI Die State 4, with a small bulge above the date. A nice example of the die variety, this would also make a desirable type coin.<p>One of the most prolific die marriages in the series and among the entire realm of state coppers, the Maris 46-e has a significant number of high grade survivors. The SHI Census includes eight coins, six of them fully UNC, plus the AU+ Maris reverse plate coin and the AU Maris obverse plate coin.
