Lot Description
1918-S Standing Liberty Quarter. MS-67 FH (NGC). With a generous mintage of 11 million pieces, the 1918-S is one of the more readily obtainable early date Standing Liberty Quarters in an absolute sense. The issue is a major strike rarity, however, with J. H. Cline (<em>Standing Liberty Quarters, Fourth Edition</em>) estimating that fewer than 3% of the coins produced emerging from the dies with Full Head definition. As a silky-smooth Superb Gem, of course, the coin we offer here also qualifies as an important condition rarity. Bathed in billowy mint frost, both sides are highly lustrous with a bright, golden-tinged sheen. A no-questions highlight of the Malibu Collection, and a coin that would grace the finest Standing Liberty Quarter set with its presence. Tied for finest certified with only one other MS-67 FH at NGC!
