Lot Description
1844 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-13. Rarity-3. MS-60 (PCGS). Warmly patinated in blended pearl gray and sandy-gold, direct lighting calls forth iridescent undertones of champagne-gold, powder blue and pale pink from both sides. Lustrous for the grade with a sharply executed strike. While not a major rarity in Mint State for an 1840s half dollar, the 1844 is decidedly scarce at this level of preservation when viewed in the wider context of both the Liberty Seated series and U.S. numismatics as a whole. Provenance: From the E. Horatio Morgan Collection. PCGS# 6245. NGC ID: 24GZ. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
