An interesting piece, for while it is heavily worn with much of the detail gone, enough of it remains to not only appreciate the more significant aspects of this design type, but also to confirm our Sheldon-4 attribution. On the obverse, Liberty's portrait is partially outlined and can be discerned under most viewing situations. Of the date little remains, but while the word LIBERTY is likewise faint, the close spacing between the letters can be made out. The reverse is worn smooth around the periphery, but retains a bold chain motif and denominations in the center. Nice walnut-brown patina overall, this is an original and problem free Chain cent at the lowest reaches of the grading scale that would serve as an adequate filler in many collections.
