Lot Description

With 6.25 million Morgan dollars struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1883, it is plausible to think this would be a common issue in Mint State grades, similar to those of 1879 to 1882. The 1883-S, however, is quite challenging to locate at the Choice Mint State level, and rare any finer than certified MS-64. Combining peripherally toned, lustrous surfaces and crisply struck devices, this example has a lovely near Gem-quality look that will delight any collector.
