The 1857 is among the scarcer early date Philadelphia Mint issues in the three-dollar gold series. Fewer than 500 coins are believed extant from a limited mintage of 20,891 pieces, the vast majority of which are in (far) lower grades than this thoroughly PQ AU-55 with CAC and CMQ approval.
